Zombies are fictional undead beings. Tales of humans rising from the dead has been depicted in a variety stories throughout history ranging from Richard Matheson and H. P. Lovecraft to Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, drawing on European folklore of the undead. In 1968, George A. Romero reinvented the Zombie in his film Night of the Living Dead, which paved the way to several zombie films in the 1980s and a resurgence of popularity in the 2000s.
