“Slap some bacon on a biscuit and let’s go!”
John Wayne, whose real name was Marion Morrison, was born in 1907, Iowa, and later was given the same nickname as his forever companion Duke—his dog.
During the making of the 1930 film The Big Trail, the studio executives gave him a new stage name John Wayne. Appearing in over 200 films, this was the name people around the world would soon cherish and recognise and would become synonymous with the western movie genre.
